What We Believe
Our faith is built entirely on Jesus Christ and the timeless truths of God's Word. These 28 fundamental beliefs represent the core teachings of the Seventh-day Adventist Church — not a creed to confine, but a foundation to unite us in faith, hope, and mission.
Every week, a different belief takes the spotlight
This week, we're featuring Belief #23. Come back next week to discover another foundational teaching.
Fundamental Belief #23
Marriage and the Family
Marriage was divinely established in Eden and affirmed by Jesus as a lifelong union between a man and a woman in loving companionship. For the Christian a marriage commitment is to God as well as to the spouse, and should be entered into only between partners who share a common faith.
All 28 Fundamental Beliefs
Organized by theme, each belief includes a summary, key Bible text, and supporting references. Tap any belief to expand and study deeper.
The foundation of our faith — who God is and how He reveals Himself to humanity.
Truth That Transforms
Beliefs are not merely intellectual positions — they shape how we live, worship, and relate to God and one another. Every one of these 28 teachings flows from a careful, prayerful study of Scripture and reflects the Adventist commitment to sola scriptura — the Bible as our only creed.
We do not claim to have exhausted all truth. We hold these beliefs as a community, always open to deeper understanding as the Holy Spirit continues to lead us into all truth. Study, prayer, and humility are the hallmarks of genuine theological conviction.
Whether you are a lifelong Adventist, a curious student, or someone exploring Christianity for the first time — we invite you to study these truths with an open heart and an open Bible.
